Trigger warning: The story includes allegations of sexual assault, grooming and sexually explicit material involving teenagers. Some readers may find this material disturbing.Oscar-winning actor, lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars Jared Leto He has been accused of criminal sexual conduct by four women who claim the incidents happened when they were teenagers. The allegations were detailed in the BBC documentary Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secrets, in which 10 women recounted their experiences with the actor, nine of whom spoke publicly for the first time.According to the BBC, the women said they met Leto between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s. The broadcaster said it had corroborated some of the claims through conversations with friends and family, as well as through photos, text messages and emails shared by some of the women.Among the charges, one woman claims she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17; another says Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19; a third claims she had sex with him when she was 17 in California, which she says would constitute rape under state law; and a fourth accuses him of grooming her with sexually explicit phone calls when she was 16.Leto has not responded to the latest accusations, despite repeated attempts by the BBC to seek a response from him. Last year, he denied similar accusations published by the US media Air Mail.

Woman claims she was attacked when she was 17

A woman named Isabel claimed she met Leto in a Las Vegas motel in 2002, when she was 17, after taking him and his friends to visit the store where she worked.Recalling the incident, she said: “Most of my life I thought this was, I was a stupid girl… and so this terrible thing happened.”According to Isabelle, Leto allegedly kissed her in the shower and forced her to have sexual contact with him before she managed to leave the room. She also claimed that she realized the actor was in his 30s after looking him up online.

Hotel room encounters and alleged threats

Another woman named Alex claimed that she met Leto after the Thirty Seconds to Mars concert in London in 2013, when she was 19.She claims she initially told him she was 17, to which he allegedly replied: “Age is just a number, we’re in Europe anyway.”Alex claims she found herself alone in a hotel room with Leto after one of his aides encouraged her to attend another party. When she asked if she could sleep in the recliner because she couldn’t get home, she claims Leto repeatedly responded that she would wake up “with a dick in her ass.”Recalling the incident, she said: “I didn’t feel safe.” She later texted a friend, who allegedly responded: “He’s threatening sexual assault and you should report him.”Alex told the documentary she now believes “the assistant knew what to say and lured me into his hotel room.”

Claiming to have sex with a minor

The third woman, Clara, claimed she first had sex with Leto in California when she was 17 and Leto was 34.She claims Leto asked her to call him “daddy” and refer to her as “my little girl.”Clara further claimed that when discussing the age of consent in California, “he just shrugged like it wasn’t a big issue to him.”Looking back, she said, “As time went on, I realized more and more how terrible it was.”She added, “No well-adjusted man in his 30s would look at a teenager and think…she would be a great partner.”

Alleged grooming and explicit phone calls

A fourth woman, Etta, claimed she met Leto when she was 16 after visiting a modeling agency in Los Angeles with her mother in 2014.She claimed that after initially contacting her to invite her to an Oscar party, the conversation quickly turned sexual.“He did email me and it quickly turned into sex on the phone,” she claimed.According to Etta, Leto asked explicit questions, including whether she was a virgin, and at one point suggested they had sex.She said she felt “nervous,” “anxious” and “uncomfortable,” but that she struggled to set boundaries because of her age.Etta also claimed that she later received a nondisclosure agreement designed to prevent her from speaking publicly about her interactions with Leto. She refused to sign.
