Kajal Agarwal Successfully built a career in Bollywood and South Indian film industry. Although she has worked with several leading Hindi film stars, she has significantly reduced her Bollywood appearances in recent years, especially after becoming a mother. In a recent interview, the actor explained that her decision stemmed from a desire to prioritize meaningful roles rather than simply increasing the number of projects.Kajal shared that the opportunities she got in the South film industry were more in line with her creative aspirations than those offered by Bollywood. In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, she said, “The quality of work I got in South was not the same as the quality I got in Bollywood. The roles I wanted – my priority was quality not quantity, South gave me a lot of such roles, so why should I play an ordinary role in Bollywood? My priority is high quality films. Language has never been a barrier for me. I love the craft of filmmaking. It took me seven films to fall in love with my craft, but once I did, I was very committed. “The actor also highlighted a key difference between the two industries: the professionalism of scheduling. Kajal says punctuality is an area where Bollywood can take inspiration from the South. “Bollywood should learn punctuality from the South. In Hindi films, nothing is on time. In the South, they work by the clock. I am used to arriving on time and I like that. In Hindi, time is very inaccurate.“When asked about the actor who kept her waiting the longest on the sets, Kajal said Salman Khan. Recalling the experience, she said, “Salman Khan kept me waiting for the longest time and I was not used to it. I want to know what happened. He would come in the afternoon or evening, so I would go to the gym on set and work out. I was used to the punctuality and discipline of southern films. “Reflecting on the changing landscape of South Indian cinema, Kajal observes that female characters are now being written with more depth and independence. She believes the industry has moved away from outdated representations of women and is embracing more progressive storytelling. “Soth is now learning to write liberal roles, and coming-of-age roles for female protagonists in Bollywood. They are no longer obsessed with the navel. I always draw the line and never play such a role.
