In a note posted on Instagram, Muzamil clarified that the video circulating as a “new claim” was actually from an interview recorded more than a year ago, adding that he has always spoken about Deepika with respect even as old remarks resurfaced. He wrote, “The interview in question was erroneously labeled as ‘new claims’ and was recorded more than a year ago. What is currently circulating are excerpts from a much longer conversation.” The hesitation, context and respect in discussing certain topics often disappear during the editing process and when excerpts are viewed in isolation. He noted that the nuances of the original dialogue were lost in the way the clip was shared.“I have always tried to speak respectfully about people from my past, and that remains unchanged. Like many others, I have spent many years focusing on my work and life, and that is where I want the conversation to remain. I insist on speaking honestly, and I insist on doing so in a respectful manner. – Muzamil Ibrahim,” concluded the actor.

The clip is from Muzammil’s June 2025 interview with Siddharth Kanan, in which he spoke somewhat hesitantly about his relationship with Deepika. In the viral segment, he said, “She (proposed to me first). I left her. No, I never regret leaving anyone. Main sakth launda hoon bhai. (I am a tough guy, bro). I was a star then; she was not.” She is a model. She’s a superstar now; no one knows me, and I’m a huge fan. “He also said that he was the first person Deepika met in Mumbai and her first serious boyfriend. He said they remained good friends and spoke on the phone for a few years after they broke up, but had not spoken since she was married. He also said that he has never been jealous of her success, and now that he is older, he is happy to see her doing well.
