The flex-fuel two-wheeler market in India has started to gain momentum. A few months ago, there was only one motorcycle in this segment, now we have four. Hero MotoCorp launched the Splendor+ Flex Fuel in June, while Yamaha recently entered the segment with the FZ Blue Flex. Both motorcycles can run on ethanol blends ranging from E20 to E85. Here’s how the two compare in terms of price, engine, features, and more.

Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel will be launched on June 3, 2026, at an ex-showroom price of Rs 82,710. Yamaha then launched the FZ Blue Flex on July 10 at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,24,240. Hero has also announced a limited-time discount of Rs 4,000, bringing the effective price of Splendor+ Flex Fuel down to Rs 78,710.

Underneath, both motorcycles retain the familiar engine but have been redesigned to support higher ethanol blends. Splendor+ Flex Fuel uses a 97.2cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed gearbox. Running on E85, it produces around 8.6 PS and 8.3 Nm of torque. Hero said it has modified more than 36 components, including fuel pumps, ECU calibrations, seals and fuel lines, to ensure compatibility with ethanol-rich fuels.On the other hand, the Yamaha FZ Blue Flex is powered by a 149cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It produces 11.7 PS of power and 12.8 Nm of torque, while supporting fuel blends from E20 to E85.

In terms of features, Yamaha offers better quality groupset. It comes with full LED projector headlights, LED taillights, digital instrument cluster, single-channel ABS, silent starter and telescopic front suspension. Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel adheres to the commuter-centric philosophy. It features a digital analog instrument cluster, Hero’s i3S idle start/stop system, side-mounted engine cut-off system, tubeless tires and drum brakes at both ends. Cosmetic changes are limited to new graphics to differentiate it from the standard Splendor+.
