According to the latest reports shared online, the film was released without going through the certification process of CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) and is currently undergoing review by an inter-departmental committee.
The Center postpones the release of “Satluj” until further notice
Despite the ongoing public outcry, the Center has temporarily postponed the release of Satluj. According to Mid Day, the inter-departmental committee is currently reviewing the film under its IT rules. It will remain off-limits to global OTT platforms until the Commission announces the final verdict of its review.A statement included in the report read: “Given the sensitive nature of the story, the idea is to maintain a unified position globally while this process is ongoing. This doesn’t have to be a permanent decision. Everyone is waiting to hear from the committee before deciding on next steps. “
Petition filed against ‘Satluj’ after screening in Jammu and Punjab
The pirated version of Satluj was screened in Jammu and Punjab over the past few days after it was removed from ZEE5. Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the film, one advocate shared online that he has filed a petition to oppose the screenings of the films Diljit Dosanjh and Arjun Rampal’s film.Advocate Vineet Jindal shared on his His post read: “Through this petition submitted to the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, I am seeking appropriate action against individuals, religious organizations and political parties involved in organizing illegal public screening of this film. It is alleged that such screenings are used to promote violence and spread hatred against communities and security agencies. “He further urged the authorities to take strict action and formally lodge an FIR against those conducting the screenings as it is illegal to screen uncertified films. “These illegal acts pose a serious threat to peace, public order and communal harmony in Punjab. Therefore, I have sought appropriate directions to prevent such illegal screenings and ensure that those responsible are held accountable in accordance with the law,” he added.“
