The statement promises that viewers will experience the film as it was originally intended. Interestingly, this is not the first time such remarks have been made. The distributor also announced an uncut UK release of the film in January, when it was due to hit theaters during the Harvest Festival, but the release was later postponed.
UK Uncut Release Confirmed After Months of Delay
The latest confirmation comes after ‘Jana Nayagan’ finally completed the lengthy certification process in India. Ahimsa Entertainment shared the latest news on social media, saying it was the “last time” for fans to witness Vijay’s final film on the big screen. The post stressed that the film will be screened “uncut” and “exactly as intended” in UK cinemas. Fans were quick to respond to the news, with many excited to see the unedited version. Some are also hoping that the same version will eventually be streamed on OTT after its theatrical release.
Indian version approved after CBFC changes
Unlike the British version, the Indian version went through multiple revisions before getting an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film was initially scheduled to release in Pongal earlier this year, but the release was delayed by nearly seven months as it went through a lengthy certification process. The CBFC reportedly made several audio-visual changes, including tweaking certain dialogues, names and references related to Vijay’s political identity. Finally, the makers made the necessary changes and got permission for theatrical release.
Vijay’s last film has high hopes
“Jana Nayagan” is directed by H Vinoth and stars Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamisha Baiju. The film has been in the news since its inception because of its certification process and the huge anticipation for Vijay to finally make his debut in the lead role before focusing on politics.
