Tovino Thomas’ period action drama “Pallichattambi” is set to reach a wider audience with its digital premiere after a theatrical success. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, S. Malayalam movie Suresh Babu releases in cinemas on April 15. After releasing it on the big screen, the makers have now locked in an OTT release date.

The producers have officially announced that “Pallichattambi” will start streaming on Sony LIV from July 24. The news was announced via the platform’s official social media accounts along with a new poster featuring the film.Sharing the update, Sony LIV wrote: “Chattambi, a national and local favorite, is now streaming exclusively on SonyLIV #Pallichattambi from 24th July on SonyLIV.”
A story rooted in the political history of Kerala
Set in 1958 Kerala, the film tells the story of Krishna Pillai, a carefree rowdy whose life changes after he becomes the feared Pallichattambi.The story takes place in the mountain village of Canyar, where tensions between the church and communist groups continue to escalate. Krishna Pillai, also known as Christopher, was brought to this village from Thomapuram by the church authorities. Christopher is a Yakshaganam performer who plays Ravana.
Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the main villain
The film is inspired by the Vimochana Samaram movement, a political movement that ultimately led to the fall of the first communist government in Kerala.One of the highlights of the film is Prithviraj Sukumaran as Patellar, a ruthless landlord who represents the entire oppressive landowning class.
