“Odyssey” advance box office report: Christopher Nolan’s epic blockbuster is about to break the record premiere; India passes the 200 million rupee mark


Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” is all set to make an epic debut at the Indian box office this Friday. The filmmaker’s much-awaited mythological epic, which is slated to hit theaters on July 17, is reportedly off to a good start at the box office, with advance booking reports suggesting that the film will collect over Rs 25 crore on its first day and industry estimates suggest that it could even touch Rs 25 crore if the current trend continues.

Advance bookings for ‘Odyssey’ cross 100 million rupees

With just a few hours left for the premiere, tickets worth around Rs 10 crore (including reserved seats) have reportedly been sold on the film’s premiere day, Sacnilk reported. The early booking numbers make the film one of the biggest Hollywood premieres of the year in India.The film has seen particularly strong demand on IMAX, 4DX and other premium large format (PLF) screens, with ticket prices ranging between Rs 700 and Rs 2,800 even for morning screenings. Some theaters are even reporting sold-out shows, while others are filling up quickly.

Premium formats drive collections

Nolan, who already has a huge fan base in the country, will release the film widely in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The blockbuster release is expected to bring in huge box office receipts this weekend. If the film continues its pace, it could open up to a whopping Rs 25 crore in India.

“The Odyssey” received a high score of 99% from 79 critics on the Rotten Tomatoes website after its premiere. The film will likely benefit from positive audience buzz and box office, with the potential to become one of the highest-grossing films of 2026.

Meanwhile, “The Odyssey” is expected to gross between $90 million and $100 million in its North American opening weekend, according to a report from Deadline, while global collections are expected to exceed $200 million.The film, which reportedly had a production budget of around $250 million, is considered the director’s most expensive film to date and may exceed its production budget in its first week.
