Ahead of the global trailer launch on July 24, a special preview event of Ramayana was held today at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, where the film’s team gathered together. Poet and lyricist Dr. also delivered a speech at the meeting. Kumar Vishwashe collaborated with composers AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer to create the lyrics for the film’s soundtrack.
Memories of Kumar Vishwas Ranbir Kapoor innocent question
Kumar, while speaking at the event, shared an anecdote about Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Ram in the film, at one point asking him a question about the character. He described the exchange this way: “Bahut achha sawaal baar-baar doosre. Mujhe aaj bhi itna innocent tareeke se unhone mujhse poochha, ‘Sir, ek chhoti si baat poochhoon?’ Main kaha, ‘Poochho’.” “Ram Bhagwan hain ya manushya hain?” Ram Bhagwan hain ya manushya hain? To hone Kajal, ‘Sir, main samajh gaya hoon. Ram sab kuchh hain. ’” (Someone asked a very good question. Even today, I remember how innocently they asked me, “Sir, may I ask a small question?” I said, “Go ahead.” “Is Lord Ram a god or a human being?” After we had been talking for almost an hour, trying to explain this, I asked, “What do you understand?”
Kumar Vishwas collaborates with AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer
Kumar composed the lyrics for the Ramayana soundtrack, marking a unique collaboration with Academy Award winners AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, who teamed up for the first time to compose music for an Indian film. The partnership was announced on July 9. AR Rahman praised Kumar Vishwas for bringing “unparalleled mastery of language” and “a deep cultural understanding of the Ramayana” to the project, noting that his words “enhanced” the music rather than merely supplemented it.
Ramayana by Kumar Vishwas is an epic poem in two parts
Ramayana is a two-part adaptation of the ancient Indian epic, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios. It tells the story of Shri Ram as the prince of Ayodhya, his exile and his eventual conflict with Ravana. According to reports, the film has a budget of around Rs 4,000 crore and will be released in two parts: the first part will be released on Diwali 2026 and the second part will be released on Diwali 2027. The visual effects were handled by DNEG, the Oscar-winning studio behind Dune and Interstellar, and both parts were shot on IMAX screens.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Shri Ram and also plays the role of Lord Parshuram in the second part. Sai Pallavi writes Sita, Yash depicts Ravana, sonny del Playing the role of Hanuman, Ravi Dubey plays the role of Lakshman. The cast also includes Arun Govil as King Dashrath; Kajal Agarwal As Mandari, Lala Dutta Rakul Preet Singh plays Kaikeyi and Amitabh Bachchan voices Jatayu.
