Jaaved Jaaferi says Amitabh Bachchan is being stereotyped because of his stardom: 'He is restricted because business aspects don't allow him to move'

veteran actor Javed Jaferi Believe that huge star power can sometimes be a limitation rather than an advantage for an actor. refer to Amitabh BachchanTaking his career as an example, Javed said commercial pressures often prevent even the biggest stars from exploring non-traditional roles. He also reflects on the younger generation of actors, casting issues and why, despite more than four decades in the industry, he still feels he has more to offer as an actor. The 63-year-old looked back on his long film career and discussed how Bollywood and its audience have changed over the years.Sharing his thoughts on the current cast, Javed said that every generation has its own positives and negatives. While he praises young performers for their professionalism and determination, he believes they are often impatient. “I think there are a lot of young people, they’re in a hurry, they’re not very helpful and so on. The good thing is they’re professional, they’re very serious, they’re very focused on what they want. So, yes, there are these disadvantages and advantages,” he said in an interview with HT city. He believes that this difference is natural because each generation works differently.Javid also spoke about the film industry’s tendency to reprise actors who have already proven successful. While he says he’s lucky not to be boxed into a single image, he admits that commercial success often determines future casting choices.“I can’t say I’m stereotyped. I’ve done it all. I’ve played villains, I’ve played madmen, serious movies, this, that and so on. I’ve done everything. What tends to happen is that as long as it works better commercially, people will start approaching you because it works well for them. This applies even to the biggest stars because once you become a commodity, they don’t allow you to do that. This is a sad place. To illustrate his point, Javed quoted Amitabh Bachchan, saying that even the legendary actor went through a period when business considerations limited his creative choices.“There was a phase when no one was greater than Mr. Bachchan. There was a phase when (old actor) (Amitabh) Mr. Bachchan couldn’t do anything different because it didn’t work. Likewise, he was restricted because the business side didn’t allow him to move. Now he’s doing the changes that he obviously wanted to do as an actor. The business side didn’t allow him to move.”Looking back on his career, Javed said he has deliberately avoided appearing on screen too frequently and believes that maintaining variety and spacing out projects has helped him maintain longevity.“As an actor, I do a lot of work. But you have to allow yourself space. The moment you saturate yourself, that becomes a problem, because if you’ve done it all. But by the grace of God, I’ve done it just right. I’ve played villains, I’ve played madmen, and I’ve done serious films. But I feel like I still have a lot to explore.”
