Chairman, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Tamim Iqbal India remains hopeful of traveling to Bangladesh in September 2026 for the scheduled white-ball series. The six-match series, including three ODIs and three T20Is, remains uncertain due to multiple factors. However, Tamim said discussions are ongoing with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Bangladesh board is working hard to ensure the series takes place.Cricbuzz quoted Tamim as saying: “Unfortunately, I don’t have any news about the India series. I am in discussions with BCCI, emails are being exchanged between BCB members and we are working on it from all fronts.” “Bangladesh series against India, I’m sure journalists, fans, cricketers and everyone are excited,” he said.India last visited Bangladesh in a two-Test match in 2022, in which they swept the country 2-0.The BCB president admitted that while he was working hard to bring India into Bangladesh, there were some things beyond his control.“Bangladesh is a very safe country and I very much hope they can come. Whatever measures we need to take, we are working on it,” he added.“I am the BCB president and there is a line that I should never cross. So from my standpoint, whatever I may do within my remit, I talk to people and I try to tell them what are the advantages of the India series and all these things,” Tamim said.“There are things that are out of my control. The discussions I have had so far have been very positive discussions. They have to make a decision as well. Maybe soon we will know if the series is happening or not. So we will know soon,” he added.The proposed series comes at a time when cricketing ties between India and Bangladesh are facing challenges.India decided not to travel to Bangladesh for the T20 World Cup due to security concerns of the previous government led by Muhammad Yunus. The decision has created uncertainty over future bilateral cricket matches between the two countries.However, recent geopolitical developments have revived hopes that India’s tour of Bangladesh can go ahead as scheduled.
