CWG 2026: Complete schedule, timing and medal events on Tuesday, July 28, India will compete for medals

Team India posted its best performance so far at the Commonwealth Games on Monday, winning six medals, taking its total to 10 medals. Team India will hope to continue the momentum into Tuesday (July 28) with several medal matches and crucial elimination matches in weightlifting, boxing, athletics and swimming.The day’s competition begins in the swimming pool, with Sajan Prakash competing in the men’s 50m butterfly preliminaries and Srihari Nataraj competing in the 100m backstroke preliminaries. Both swimmers are targeting a spot in the evening’s semifinals. India will also be represented in athletics with Vishal TK and Rajesh Ramesh taking part in the men’s 400m heats hoping to advance to the next round.

Weightlifter’s goal is to get on the podium

India’s best medal hopes rest on Tuesday with Nirupama Devi Seram and Harjinder Kaur, who will compete in the women’s 63kg and women’s 69kg weightlifting finals respectively.Following Bindyarani Devi’s bronze medal win, the Indian weightlifting team will be keen to continue its strong run at the Olympics.

Boxers eye semifinal spot

Indian boxing rings are set to witness a busy day with five quarter-finals scheduled. India’s Preeti Pawar takes on Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde in the women’s 54kg category. She is followed by Priya Ghanghas, who will take on Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell in the women’s 60kg category.Later in the night, Parveen Hooda will face England’s Sasha Hickey in the quarter-finals of the women’s 65kg category, while Jadumani Singh will face Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale in the men’s 55kg category. Kapil Pokhariya will conclude the Indian boxing calendar with a quarter-final clash against Scotland’s Robert McNulty in the men’s 90kg category.A win in either event will ensure at least a bronze medal and a spot in the semi-finals.

Athletics and Para Swimming Medal Opportunities

India will also be in contention for medals in athletics, with Pooja Singh competing in the women’s high jump final and long-distance runner Gurvir Singh vying for honors in the men’s 10,000m final.In para swimming, Karthik Budigina and Ali Imam will first compete in the men’s 50m freestyle S13 heats and, if qualified, return for the finals later in the day.
