New Delhi: Team India will have a new face in the backline with Subhadeep Ghosh replacing T Dilip as fielding coach. After India’s white-ball tour of England, the BCCI decided not to extend Dileep’s contract.Sudhadeep’s first assignment in the senior men’s team will be the India series in Sri Lanka in August.
Who is Subadeep Ghosh ?
After Dileep’s tenure ended, Suhadeep Ghosh, a former domestic cricketer from Assam, was appointed as India’s new fielding coach. Digboy, who was born in Assam in 1968, plays as a middle-order right-hand batsman and off-spin batsman.During his career, he represented Assam and Railways in domestic cricket.Ghosh played 17 first-class and 17 A-level matches, scoring 316 and 307 runs respectively. In the 1994-95 season, he made his debut in both formats.In 2004, he played his last Serie A game and ended his Serie A career in 2005.After retiring as a player, Ghosh turned to coaching and became part of the Indian cricket development system.He has been associated with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for the past six to seven years and worked with Rahul Dravid during his time at the NCA.Over the years, Ghosh has gained experience by working with Indian teams of various age groups.Ghosh served as the fielding coach during the 2021 tour of the Indian women’s team to Australia.He has also worked with the India A team and the India U-19 team, including during the 2024 U-19 World Cup in South Africa.Ghosh was part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ support staff in the 2014 IPL when the team won its second title.He later served as the fielding coach of Delhi Capitals.
