Indian long-distance runner Gulveer Singh wrote history by becoming the first Indian to win a men’s 10,000m medal at the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday when he bagged a memorable silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.The national record holder finished second in 27:49.78, behind Australia’s Kai Robinson, who took the gold. The Isle of Man’s David Mullarkey rounded out the podium with a bronze medal, while traditional long-distance running powers Kenya and Uganda were surprisingly left out of the medals.

Playing in challenging rainy conditions, Gourville adopted a composed tactical approach throughout the race. He held the lead for most of the 25-lap race, conserving energy while chasing the leaders. With a lap to go, the Indian was in third place and bursting with speed in the closing stages.
