“The Rookie” star Nathan Fillion is making the most of his fame on the hit show. In one of his latest interviews, the actor revealed how he used his popularity on The Rookie to get out of a speeding ticket. He even revealed how the officer ended up mistaking him for someone else.

While attending San Diego Comic-Con with the cast on Monday, July 27, Nathan Fillion opened up about his encounters with the police and how he used his fame from the show to get out of a speeding ticket. While talking about the hilarious moment, he shared that he was pulled over for speeding not long ago and the police officer recognized him, People reported. He added, “I was pulled over once and the officer looked at my ID and said, ‘I recognize you as an actor.‘I said, ‘Yeah…actually, I’m fine.’ ‘”However, he ended up mistaking Fillion for Jason Bateman, known for his work on Arrested Development and Ozark. Fillion added, “He said, ‘If you sign my wife’s name, I’m going to give you a warning and let you go.’ I said, ‘Great.'” He handed me his phone. I asked, “What’s your wife’s name?” He said, “Lily.” So I wrote, “To Lily…” and I heard him say, “Hey honey, I want to sign it for you. I’m Jason Bateman.” ‘”The actor then went on to say that he could not correct the officer and agreed. “I signed it… ‘To my love, Jason Bateman,'” he said, making everyone laugh at the hilarious interaction. Fillion shared the story earlier in 2021 during a guest appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Derek Augustine shares story of similar interaction with police
His partner, Derek Augustine, shared a similar story of being released by an officer who recognized him. He shared at Comic-Con, “I was recently pulled over for having tinted windows, and the cop recognized me as me from ‘The Rookie.’ He let me go.” However, Lizese Chavez joked that she also had the misfortune of being pulled over by a police officer. She wasn’t as lucky as her colleagues and ended up being fined for speeding.“The Rookie” recently aired its eighth season finale and has begun filming its ninth season, which is expected to premiere in 2027.
