Now, the actress has opened up about why her Bollywood offers started drying up. She also opened up about her career choice and why she gravitated towards Punjabi films.

Why Bollywood movies are slowing down

In an interview with News18, Shehnaaz Gill explained the transformation, saying, “In Punjabi films, I have more options. I won’t say that I haven’t gotten as many offers in Bollywood, but I have become a star in the Punjabi film industry. That’s the honest truth. This statement is very true.”She added, “This is how all film industries work. If you are popular, people will come to you and want to cast you in their films. Mainly beautiful Hoon Hi actors than Archie Hoon. I have played more lead roles in Punjabi films. Another reason is that there are very few actresses out there.”

Shehnaaz Gill talks waiting for the right role

Shehnaaz Gill reveals that even in Punjabi films, she had to be selective. She said, “I have been getting a lot of offers from Punjabi filmmakers in the last five-six years, but I wasn’t excited about most of the scripts. Most of them asked me not to do any heavy lifting. All I had to do was smile and laugh. I just wanted good, meaningful work. But luckily, I got ‘Ishqnama’.”

What Shehnaz Gill wants from a Bollywood role

Talking about her attitude towards Hindi films, Shehnaaz said, “For Bollywood, I will do a film only if my character makes an impact. Otherwise, I will do a film. Cinema aisi cheez hai jahaan aap chhap jaate ho saari umar ke liye. And the only way you are remembered is when the only way you are remembered is when the only way you are remembered is.”She further explained, “I don’t want to be in every scene of the entire film. But I want my character to be the crux of the story, a character who can move the story forward. If I get such a role in a Hindi film, I will definitely do that.”

Shehnaaz Gill talks about her deal breakers

Shehnaz also revealed that she wanted to avoid being relegated to a glamor role. “I don’t want to do a film just for the glamour. I don’t want to be used as a prop. I don’t want to just be the heroine who has three weird songs in the film,” the actress shared, adding that she now wants to follow in the footsteps of Radhika Apte. She said, “I wanted to do what Radhika Apte did. She’s not all glamour. She’s known for her powerful characters. My dream is to become an excellent artist.The actress will next be seen in “Singh Vs Kaur”.
