While promoting his latest film Send the Help , starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, Raimi expressed his respect for Stephen King. While speaking with Cinema Blend at the time, the director shared that King was one of the main reasons he got into the film industry and the horror genre.He revealed that King’s support for his film Evil Dead meant a lot to him, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert, who all worked to make the film a reality while at MSU. When Remy was asked if his work was influenced by King, he commented: “Forever, gave me a chance in this industry.”He then detailed the struggles he faced on the set of Evil Dead, sharing, “Nobody was going to touch Evil Dead with a 10-foot plague pole, and then Stephen King happened to be in the theater, at the Market, in Cannes.
