Johnny Depp sent fans into a frenzy on Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con as he stepped into the shoes of Ebenezer Scrooge to promote his upcoming horror fantasy film “Ebenezer,” an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ famous “A Christmas Carol.”The actor, who has largely stayed away from major Hollywood studio projects in recent years, delighted fans at the convention with his character interactions.

Wearing a long coat and top hat and displaying Scrooge’s signature sass, Depp emerged from a fake snow-covered storefront labeled “Scrooge and Marley.” His surprise appearance quickly captivated the crowd, with fans cheering him on and him playfully berating the crowd. “Do you have a job? You seem to have a lot of free time. Why are you here?” he reportedly told an audience member, eliciting laughter from the crowd.“All I can say is that you are all very, very strange people. Liars.” He said the character’s signature line, then retreated inside.

In addition to the surprise appearance, Paramount Pictures also officially released the first trailer for “Ebenezer”, confirming that Depp will play Ebenezer Scrooge. The studio also released the film’s first title poster and announced a November 13 release date.“A name you know.
