He declined to answer, indicating he was not there to discuss the matter. When reporters continued to press him, he looked visibly annoyed and said: “Abhi ho gaya, bas” before ending the interaction.It’s unclear where or in which incident the exchange occurred. Many social media users criticized the singer for remaining silent, especially as several actors, musicians and other public figures publicly expressed solidarity with the protesting students.“Shameless, talent doesn’t necessarily make you a good person,” one user wrote. Another questioned celebrities’ silence on public issues, writing: “Spineless so-called celebrities have zero contribution when it comes to supporting real causes or supporting the plight of our students or nation building.”Others, meanwhile, defended Sonu and argued that celebrities should not be expected to comment on every politically sensitive issue. Police action followed at the demonstrations, including charging officers and using tear gas. In Mumbai, Huma QureshiSaqib Saleem, Ayesha Khan and Shalini Pandey also joined the students taking part in the protest.The unrest started over allegations of irregularities in the NEET exam and has since spread to several cities across the country. Protesters are demanding accountability and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
