The actor and his wife, Maria Goretti, spent time reviving the property, and the end result is a stunning combination of old-world charm and bold, modern design.Arshad recently took to Instagram to update fans on the renovation process, sharing photos of everyone who helped Casa Zen look new, including carpenters, potters and the team behind the cleaning and polishing work. One image shows a potter making 40 pots of different sizes and colors for a home, and there’s a video of Maria Goretti herself carving hearts into wood.The blurb on the hotel’s official page simply describes Casa Zen: a 150-year-old Portuguese house that has been lovingly restored and is said to feel like a warm hug upon entering.
Inside the zen house
Located in Saligao, North Goa, the five-bedroom Casa Zen blends its original Portuguese-era architecture with vivid, contemporary interiors. The entrance features textured indigo walls, while a muted palette of white and cream is used in one of the bedrooms, offset by warm lighting and wooden accents.From the outside, the bungalow is mostly white, with accents of indigo and yellow on the exterior walls. In an effort to achieve sustainability, Arshad also installed solar panels on the roof – a practical addition to the heritage structure. The hotel also features a large swimming pool, landscaped gardens and a mango orchard, making it a quiet and green getaway away from the city.Although Casa Zen is the Warsi family’s personal vacation home, it also serves as a rental property for tourists. According to Wildflower Villas, which handled the booking, the entire five-bedroom bungalow is available for rent at Rs 75,000 per night (exclusive of applicable taxes). Guests have access to a swimming pool, gardens and the traditional interiors of the house, making it one of the more unique accommodation options in a quiet area of North Goa.
