Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has signed with Yorkshire as an overseas player for the remainder of the English domestic season. The left-arm wrist spinner will play five One-Day Cup matches before returning for three County Championship matches in September. His tenure begins with a 50-match appearance against Glamorgan on Friday.In a club statement, Kuldeep expressed his delight at joining one of England’s most historic county clubs, saying: “I’m really delighted to be joining Yorkshire and grateful for the opportunity. It will be a real privilege to represent a club with a proud Yorkshire history.”He also said he was looking forward to testing himself in British conditions again. “I have always enjoyed the challenge of playing in British conditions and after speaking with management I am extremely excited to be joining the squad and I look forward to making a positive contribution during my time at Headingley,” he added.The move comes soon after India’s ODI series in England, where Kuldeep did not feature in any of the three matches despite being part of the Indian team.Yorkshire believe Kuldeep’s arrival will strengthen their bowling attack, with spin in particular expected to play a greater role in the closing stages of the season.General Manager Cricket Gavin Hamilton said: “Kuldeep is a versatile, international-caliber player who will be an incredible addition to our squad during these fixtures.”He added: “Given the dry summer we have had, we expect spin to play a big role in the closing stages of the season. Kuldeep’s left-arm wrist spin brings another dimension to us and brings a wealth of experience at the highest level. We are delighted to welcome him to Yorkshire.”Kuldeep joins the list of Indian cricketers who have played county cricket this season, including Yuzvendra Chahal, Jaydev Unadkat, Manav Suthar, R. Sai Kishore and Ashutosh Sharma.
