Matt Damon and Ben Affleck support each other early on.
Damon, who stars in Christopher Nolan’s epic “The Odyssey,” compared his character’s defiant mentality to the one he and Affleck developed in their youth. “I think starting as an actor, you have to feel a little bit like that. You have to do it because the opportunities are so slim for you,” Damon explained in the interview. “I think Ben and I had each other’s backs when we were younger. When we were teenagers, we would come to New York by train or bus to audition for The Mickey Mouse Club.“He elaborated on the differences between their support system and typical family encouragement. “We were the only ones who trusted each other. We had families, but they weren’t in the entertainment industry. We were the only ones who felt like we had our foot in the door and said, ‘Yeah, you’re going to make it,'” Damon said. “I think you need to have a bullshit mentality to go into this life because it’s a bit like circus life, it’s not a normal way of life.“
