With the launch of Syros EV, Kia India has officially entered one of the most competitive electric SUV segments in the country. The new model will compete with existing products such as the Tata Nexon EV, which has been one of the best-selling electric SUVs in India. While Kia hasn’t announced pricing yet, we can take a closer look at what the two electric SUVs will cost on paper.
Kia Syros electric car Comparison with Tata Nexon EV: Battery, range and performance
The Kia Syros EV will be available in two battery pack options. The entry-level version comes with a 42 kWh battery with a claimed ARAI-certified range of 443 km, while the larger 51.4 kWh battery has a claimed range of 526 km. According to Kia, it is the first SUV in the segment to break the 500-km range mark. Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor that produces 171 hp and 255 Nm of torque (with a 51.4 kWh battery pack), and the larger battery model can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. The 42 kWh battery model produces 135 hp and 255 Nm of torque.The Tata Nexon EV is also available in two battery options. The 30 kWh battery is said to offer a MIDC range of 275 km, while the larger 45 kWh battery offers up to 489 km of range. The smaller battery version produces 129 hp, while the larger battery version produces 145 hp. Torque is rated at 215, which is standard on both options.

Syros EV is equipped with a number of premium features, including a 30-inch Trinity panoramic display, combined with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 5-inch climate control display. Other highlights include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Kia Connect 2.0 with over 95 connectivity features, over-the-air updates, Harman Kardon 8-speaker sound system, ventilated front and rear seats, panoramic sunroof, 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, smart dash cam and 16-litre front luggage compartment.Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon EV comes with dual 12.3-inch displays, JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, air purifier and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.
