Ben Affleck discusses the role of artificial intelligence
Affleck founded InterPositive in 2022 and serves as CEO. The OTT giant also absorbed the company’s team as part of the acquisition, while the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker continues to work with the streamer in an advisory capacity.Afu has previously spoken about the role artificial intelligence can play in filmmaking, stressing that it will only enhance creative work, not replace it. “Artificial intelligence will eliminate the more laborious, less creative and more expensive aspects of filmmaking. It will lower costs. It will lower the barrier to entry. It will allow more voices to be heard. It will make it easier for people who want to make Good Will Hunting to go out and make it,” Afo said in a video discussing the technology. He also explained that “artificial intelligence is, at best, a craftsman—a craftsman who can learn to make Stickley furniture by sitting next to someone, seeing what their technique is, and imitating it…A craftsman Just know how to work. The art is knowing when to stop. I think knowing when to stop is a very difficult thing for artificial intelligence because it’s a matter of taste. “
Netflix is already using artificial intelligence in production
According to THR , co-CEO Ted Sarandos was asked how the company plans to leverage InterPositive and whether the acquisition will translate into long-term cost savings. “It’s still early days for InterPositive, but we’re seeing broadly that gen-AI is starting to have an impact on hundreds of our titles,” he shared. He went on to add: “We are able to produce higher quality output faster and more efficiently than using traditional methods. The Gen AI workflow is now used in approximately 300 of our games, with the largest concentration to date being in post-production. We are leveraging gen AI to handle very complex shots and sequences.”Sarandos said large-scale crowd scenes and combat sequences are areas where generative AI has proven particularly effective.
