National testing agency (State Administration of Taxation) has announced the National Eligibility cum Undergraduate Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2026 results today (July 16). Candidates who appeared for the Medical Entrance Exam can now download their scorecard from the official website neet.nta.nic.in.According to NTA, nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for the exam to be held on June 21, 2026. Of these, more than 11.21 lakh candidates were eligible for admission to undergraduate medicine, dentistry, AYUSH and related courses.The institution said the results were declared on time to ensure that the counseling and admission process to the medical college begins as planned.
NEET UG 2026: Overview
NEET UG 2026 was conducted at 5,440 examination centers in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. The exam is conducted in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese and Urdu.More than 58% of qualified candidates are women. The NTA also said that most of the top-performing candidates were between 17 and 19 years old.
NEET UG 2026 Topper
Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana jointly secured the highest score of 715 out of 720 points.A total of 138 candidates scored more than 690 points, and 19 candidates scored more than 700 points.Among the top 138 candidates:
- More than 93% of them were NEET UG debutants.
- About 99% are between 17 and 19 years old.
The top 17 candidates who scored more than 705 points were from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
NEET UG 2026 score distribution
NTA shared the following score distribution:
- 19 candidates scored more than 700 points.
- 1,492 candidates scored 650 points and above.
- 10,160 candidates scored 600 points and above.
- 90,780 candidates scored 500 points and above.
Qualified candidates by category
The number of qualified candidates in each category is as follows:
- General: 291,000
- Other backward categories non-creamy layer (OBC-NCL): 512,000
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 159,000
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 63,716
- General Economically Weaker Section (Gen-EWS): 95,026
- Benchmark Persons with Disabilities (PwBD): 3,666
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 303
The NTA said it completed processing the results through a modified system that allows multiple stages to run simultaneously.The schedule is as follows:
- The provisional answer was issued on June 25, and the objection window was open until June 28.
- Scanning Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheets and recorded answers were presented between July 13 and July 15.
- The final answers and results will be announced on July 16.
Consultation details
The Medical Consultative Committee (MCC) will provide consultation for 15% of the all-India quota seats for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). The consultation for state quota seats will be conducted by the respective state authorities.The NTA advised candidates to rely only on official websites for counseling updates and warned them against receiving fake calls, messages or websites claiming to offer admission, seat blocking or score enhancement services. The agency clarified that it never asks candidates for money or personal identification.
