Kia India has launched the much-awaited Syros EV. The company has also opened bookings for the electric SUV at a price of Rs 25,000 through its official website and dealers across the country. The Syros EV is available in two battery pack options and claims an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 526 km.The larger 51.4 kWh battery pack provides an ARAI-certified range of 526 kilometers. It can also be equipped with a smaller 42 kWh battery, with a claimed range of 443 kilometers. Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor that produces 171 hp, while the larger battery version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.Speaking of charging capabilities, using a 100kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes. The SUV also comes with a 10.8 kW on-board AC charger, battery conditioning technology and regenerative braking in i-Pedal mode. Kia also offers a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty, a guaranteed buyback program and its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing option. In terms of design, the Syros EV is basically similar to the ICE model, except for some EV-specific styling elements such as the brand’s Digital Tiger Face, Ice Cube MFR LED headlights, Star Map LED lighting, flush door handles and 17-inch two-tone aerospace alloy wheels. Customers can also choose 16-inch wheel options depending on the model.The interior of the Syros EV features a 30-inch Trinity panoramic display panel, which combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment system and a 5-inch climate control display. Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Kia Connect 2.0 with over 95 connectivity features, over-the-air updates, Harman Kardon 8-speaker audio system, ventilated front and rear seats, panoramic sunroof, 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, smart dash cam and 16-litre front luggage compartment.In terms of safety, Syros EV is equipped with Level 2 ADAS, which provides 16 autonomous driving functions, including forward collision avoidance assist, smart cruise control with start/stop function, lane maintenance assist and lane following assist. It also comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill start assist, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor and a total of 25 standard safety features.Syros EV will be available in seven models with two battery options. Kia will offer this electric SUV in nine exterior colors and a variety of interior themes. Pricing remains to be confirmed.
