National testing agency (State Administration of Taxation) has decided to extend the deadline for NEET UG 2026 candidates to enter their bank details for refund of exam fees. According to media reports, the decision was taken after more than 50% of eligible candidates failed to submit their bank details by the previous deadline. The extension gives aspirants a second chance to successfully complete the refund process.
52% of candidates provided bank details
NTA revealed that as of July 14, 2026, only 11,46,401 candidates had submitted their bank details. The agency has started processing refunds for those who successfully updated their bank account information. Candidates who have not yet completed the process are urged to submit their details as early as possible to avoid missing out on their refund.
NEET UG 2026 refund period extended
NTA has now extended the last date for submission of bank account details to July 31, 2026 at 11:50 pm. The previous deadline was July 14th.The extension is provided to ensure that all eligible candidates receive a refund of their exam fees. Candidates who do not update their bank account details by the revised deadline may face refund delays.
Why did the candidate receive a refund?
According to reports, the NEET UG 2026 exam was originally scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026. Due to the leak of the question paper, the exam was canceled and will be held again on June 21, 2026.In order to ensure that candidates are compensated after the examination is re-held, the National Examinations Bureau has initiated the examination fee refund process. Refunds will be transferred directly to the bank account provided by the candidate.
NTA Release Scan OMR response form
At the same time, NTA has also released scanned OMR answer sheets for candidates appearing for the re-conducted NEET UG 2026 examination.The reply form is available only through the individual candidate’s login to the official NEET portal. Candidates must use their application number and password to access the scanned OMR form. The agency advises candidates to ensure they enter correct login credentials to avoid access issues.Scanned OMR sheets are released after provisional answers are released, allowing candidates to compare their recorded answers before the final answers are released.
Results expected on July 20
The window for objections to the interim answer is expected to close soon. After reviewing the challenges submitted by the candidates, NTA will publish the final answers.The results of the re-conducted NEET UG 2026 exam are expected to be announced on July 20, 2026. The results will decide the admissions of over 20 lakh MBBS candidates in medical colleges across the country.
What Candidates Should Do Now
Students who have not yet provided their bank details will need to do so before 11:50pm on 31st July 2026 in order to successfully complete the refund of fees. Students appearing for the exam must also download the OMR sheet to verify their answers through the NEET official website before the final answers are released.
