The 52-year-old cited “physical attraction” as the reason for his divorce a decade later, saying he valued infatuation more than a real connection. The “Beverly Hills, 90210” actor recalled the toxicity in their relationship and insisted you needed to be friends before getting married.

Brian Austin Green shares his insights into relationships and what he’s learned over the years. “My ex-husband and I were together for almost 15 years,” he said in an interview on the “I Do, Part 2” podcast, before adding, “We were married for almost 10 years and I was led by physical attraction.” His initial approach was to be attracted to someone’s body and build an emotional connection around it.“First, I would be physically attracted to someone and then build a relationship around that,” he said, adding that he decided to break the toxic pattern. “I got divorced, which I didn’t expect,” he continued, before talking about his relationship with Megan Fox. “I had three kids and was a single parent, and I knew I didn’t want to repeat what I’d done. So I went through all kinds of therapy and all kinds of things to really figure out what I brought to a relationship.

Brian Austin Green gave love and connection a second chance, changing his ways when he connected with his now-fiancée, Dancing With the Stars cast member Sharna Burgess. “I sincerely believe that you need to be friends with someone first,” he said, remembering how they would often chat for hours over breakfast before they struck up a romantic relationship.“We started out as very, very good, easy, natural friends,” Green said, adding of the famous vision, “Then we realized that, physically, we worked really well together, and then it became our relationship.” Friendships are a solid foundation for a healthy relationship, but prioritizing physical attraction may not last long, Green said.
