The Center is considering taking legal action against the release and public screening of Diljit Dosanjh starrer “Satluj”, with government sources saying the film was released without a valid certificate from the Centre. central board of film certification (CBFC).Sources revealed that the CBFC recommended 127 cuts during the certification process. The report further claimed that the state government has been directed to take action against the unauthorized public screening of the film without compulsory permission from CBFC.A few days ago, lawyer Vineet Jindal filed a complaint in the Punjab and Haryana High Court over reports of the screening of “Satluj”. On Saturday, Jindal shared a copy of his petition letter on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying he had sought immediate judicial intervention against those suspected of organizing the screening.Jindal wrote on It is alleged that such screenings are used to promote violence and spread hatred against communities and security agencies. ““Satluj” disappeared from India’s Zee5 two days after its release, further escalating the controversy. The streaming platform removed the film, which is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, citing only “current circumstances” without providing any additional explanation.In response to the takedown, several community organizations announced plans to screen the film in nursing homes in five states. They said the measure was aimed at ensuring that Khalra’s story continues to reach viewers despite being removed from OTT platforms.Meanwhile, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking the restoration of “Satluj” on Zee5. The petition states that the video was removed without any publicly disclosed statutory, judicial or government order and seeks its reinstatement on the platform and disclosure of the reasons behind its removal.
