Anupam Kher's response to Naseeruddin Shah calling him a 'clown' goes viral: 'If you can criticize Amitabh Bachchan, Virat Kohli... no one will take you seriously for the drugs you take...'

actor Nasiruddin Shahold criticism Anupam Kher Kher’s comments have resurfaced online amid recent controversy over reports of stolen donations from the Ayodhya Ram temple. A clip from Shah’s 2020 interview has once again been widely shared, with the veteran actor calling Kyle a “clown” when discussing his political views. In an interview with India Today, Kher dismissed the reported Ram temple theft as a “very minor issue” and compared it to the massive destruction and looting of temples during the Mughal era, a video that went viral years ago. As his remarks gained attention, social media users revived Shah’s earlier comments about the actor. In the 2020 interview, Shah was asked about members of the film industry who either criticize politics and policies they see as discriminatory or openly support the government. He responded to the question by saying, “There are fewer people who are against it than there are people who are against it.”Talking about Kher, Shah added, “People like Anupam Kher are very outspoken. I don’t think he needs to be taken seriously. He is a clown. Any number of contemporaries from NSD and FTII can attest to his sycophantic nature. It is in his blood. He cannot control it.”Kher then shared a video message on X in response to Shah’s remarks, accusing the veteran actor of frequently targeting people in the film industry.“Although I have never said a bad word about you, now I will. Although you have achieved so much, you have spent your life in frustration. If you can criticize Dilip Kumar Sahab, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Shah Rukh Khan and Virat Kohlithen I’m sure I’m in good company,” Kyle said.He further added, “None of them took your comments seriously because we all know that because of the medications you’ve been taking for years, you don’t realize what’s right and what’s wrong.” The controversy resurfaced after Kher was asked by India Today about reports of stolen donations from the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The actor believes the incident should be seen in the context of historical destruction and looting of temples. He said: “When the Mughals destroyed our temples, the temples were looted. When Brahmins were killed, when the wealth of our temples was looted, when women were raped inside the temples. That is a greater tragedy. If we can get over this pain, it’s a very, very small thing. “Expanding on his remarks, Khar added, “People are creating a fuss over this issue. They are saying that there is looting in the temples… Such words are being used. When the Mughals destroyed our temples, the temples were looted. When the Mughal rulers killed Brahmins and collected and weighed their holy threads, the temples were also looted.” The temples were looted when the Mughal emperors came and robbed each temple of its valuables. When women were raped inside temples, temples were looted. That is a greater tragedy. If we can overcome this problem, then the theft problem will be minimal. “On the work front, Kher will next be seen in “Shri Ram Bhoomi” directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, who recently directed “The kerala Story 2′.
