Jude Bellingham looked surprised after learning England manager Thomas Tuchel was unhappy with his team’s 2-1 extra-time win over Norway in the World Cup quarter-finals.England advanced to the semi-finals in Miami, with Bellingham scoring twice. While the players celebrated on the pitch, Tuchel made it clear in his post-match interview that he was not satisfied with the overall performance. The England boss said: “Not happy with the performance…“We’ve made our lives very, very difficult today.”“The result was fantastic, we’re in the last four, which is fantastic, but we’re not happy with the performance. The commitment is there but the way we play makes life very difficult for us. ““Sloppy, a lot of technical errors, not fast enough, not repetitive enough. We were lucky today.” Tuchel said after the game.Tuchel was then asked if the pressure of the situation was affecting his players. He rejected the suggestion, saying: “It’s not a matter of mentality – it’s purely a matter of mentality.”“How can you ask about mentality now? This is pure mentality, you can put it on a package and sell it. This is the quality of our game. That’s it. It has nothing to do with mentality.”Bellingham was later informed of Tuchel’s comments during a post-match interview with ITV. The midfielder looked frustrated, rolled his eyes and said: “Whatever.”He then added: “It’s difficult. It’s a difficult transition.”Bellingham also praised his teammates for their hard work during the game.Asked about Tuchel’s comments, the Real Madrid midfielder said: “Maybe he doesn’t know what it takes to play in this situation against Erling Haaland, Nousa, Solos, it’s not an easy team to play against.“I think we’ve worked hard to create a positive environment and we should continue to do that going into the Final Four.”“I can’t speak highly enough of the lads. You can’t win every game with a thousand passes, sometimes you have to win games the dirty way.”
