Shashi Ranjan praises the film’s emotional depth
Speaking to IANS, Shashi said, “After a long time, I watched a film that gave me a triple reaction. First, I was very moved after watching the film. Secondly, the story and the way it was made completely surprised me. After many years, I came across a film with such beautiful narrative and strong emotions. Among all the films released in the past few years, this is one of the best films I have seen.”“I believe that banning films of any kind serves no purpose and causes more harm. When a film is banned, it creates curiosity as to why it was banned. I don’t think showing history to today’s youth will lead them in the wrong direction. I strongly disagree with that view. There are many films that highlight the darker chapters of history. I don’t think today’s educated young audiences would be distracted after watching a film like this. I find it a pity that the film has been removed from OTT platforms and I hope it comes back soon. ” added Shashi Ranjan.
‘Satluj’ and its removal from OTT
Diljit Dosanjh’s film Satluj (previously titled Punjab ’95) was removed from India’s ZEE5 streaming platform just 48 hours after its release. The film was suddenly removed from shelves after government authorities raised concerns over its depiction of police excesses in Punjab in the 1990s. According to reports, the video surfaced online through a leak a few hours after it was removed from OTT.
