Thousands of children got a chance to study in private schools across the national capital after the Delhi Department of Education (DoE) announced the results of the second round of computerized draws for admissions under the Economically Weak Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG) and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories.A total of 8,976 students have been selected for entry-level courses in private independent accredited schools for the 2026-27 academic year. The draw took place on Friday as part of the government’s efforts to fill seats reserved for eligible children through a transparent and computer-based process.
Nearly 9,000 students in kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade were selected
According to the education department, students have been selected in nursery, kindergarten (KG) and first grade under reserved categories.For kindergarten enrollment, students must be between three and five years old as of March 31, 2026.Children who want to enroll in Kindergarten (KG) must be between four and six years old, and those who want to enter Grade One must be between five and seven years old.Students must meet the specified age requirements to be eligible for admission.
Proof of disability is mandatory for admission to CWSN category
Applicants who wish to be admitted under the special needs children category must produce a disability certificate issued by any government hospital. The disability certificate must be issued as per the guidelines of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Conduct computerized draws to ensure transparency
The education department said the second computer draw was conducted to ensure fair, transparent and equitable allocation of seats reserved for children in EWS, DG and CWSN categories.The computer-based selection process is designed to eliminate human intervention and provide equal opportunity to qualified applicants seeking admission as per the reservation policy.This activity is an important part of Delhi’s annual admission process for children from economically disadvantaged families, disadvantaged groups and special needs.
Enrollment covers entry-level courses
The admissions process is for entry-level courses including:
- Preschool (nursery school)
- Preschool (kindergarten)
- Level 1
These admissions are conducted for the academic session 2026-27 under reserved categories notified by the Delhi government.
Age Criteria for EWS and DG Applicants
The Education Department has prescribed age requirements for children belonging to EWS and DG categories.As of March 31, 2026, children enrolled in nursery are expected to be between 3 and 5 years old.Children applying for admission to the kindergarten category must be between the ages of four and six, while children applying for admission to the first level must be between the ages of five and seven. Children must meet the specified age requirements to be eligible for admission.
Proof of disability required for admission to CWSN
Applicants seeking admission under the Children with Special Needs (CWSN) category must submit a valid disability certificate issued by a government hospital.The certificate shall be issued in accordance with the assessment guidelines prescribed under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. This document must be verified during the admission process.

The second computer draw marks another important step in the admission process for reserved seats in private schools in Delhi.
