Delhi University (DU) has received an overwhelming response for its undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2026-27 with over 1.90 lakh applicants registering through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). As enrollment enters a critical stage, the school will announce the first batch of quota allocation lists on July 16.University officials said that while over 1.9 lakh candidates have completed registration, over 1.64 lakh applicants have already submitted their course and university preferences, bringing the admission process closer to the first round of seat allotment.
More than 164,000 candidates have completed Preference submission
According to the university, a total of 1,90,645 candidates registered for undergraduate admissions through CSAS. Of these, 1,64,098 applicants have completed the second phase, which asked applicants to plan their subjects and submit their preferred courses and colleges.The university has asked candidates who have not yet completed the process to do so before the deadline. Once the submission window is closed, the preferences are automatically locked and no further changes are allowed.Officials have repeatedly advised students to review their options carefully as admission in subsequent rounds will depend on the preferences submitted during this phase.
Create a one-time correction window for applicants
Respond to requests from candidates reporting errors on their application forms, Delhi University A one-time correction facility has been opened on the CSAS portal.A correction window allows applicants to correct errors in information submitted during registration. The facility was introduced after the university received multiple representations from students who wanted the opportunity to correct inadvertent errors before the admissions process moved forward. The revision period coincides with the final stages of undergraduate registration and preference submission.
Enrollment status of 73 undergraduate majors
In the academic year 2026-27, Delhi University will admit admissions to 73 undergraduate courses in 69 colleges and academic departments.The university has offered 71,624 seats through the CSAS admissions process. Additionally, the Bachelor of Arts (BA) program offers nearly 150 combinations, providing candidates with a wide range of academic options.Admissions to additional categories, including athletics and extracurricular activities, will also be processed based on course and college preferences submitted by qualified applicants.
The first seat allocation will be released on July 16
The first batch of undergraduate admissions allocation lists will be announced on July 16. Candidates who have obtained the quota must accept the allocation and go through the admission procedures within the specified time.After paying the admission fee, students can freeze their allotted seats or opt for an upgrade option to be considered for admission to higher preference courses or colleges in subsequent rounds. Those who choose to upgrade will also be allowed to reschedule their higher preference before the next allocation cycle.
Introducing a virtual wallet to simplify fee payments
To make the admission process smoother, the university has introduced a virtual wallet mechanism for payment of fees.Under this system, the amount of money a candidate receives for an upgraded seat after paying the previous round of admission fees will be automatically adjusted. The initiative is expected to eliminate duplicate payments and streamline financial processes during multiple rounds of consultations.Delhi University aims to complete two rounds of undergraduate admissions before the start of the new semester on July 28.
Graduate and professional admissions also make progress
In addition to undergraduate admissions, the university continues its advising process for graduate and professional programs.The third allotment list for two-year postgraduate courses has been announced, including Master of Fine Arts (MFA), Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd), Master of Physical Education (MPEd) and music and other performance courses. Fresh allocations were made for both regular postgraduate and performance-based courses, while thousands of candidates confirmed their admissions by freezing alloted seats.The university also reported registrations for the one-year postgraduate course designed for students completing a four-year undergraduate degree under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.Meanwhile, as Delhi University enters one of its busiest admissions seasons with thousands of aspiring students vying for limited seats in its colleges, admissions to BTech courses and integrated law courses are also being conducted through separate allotment and live admission rounds.
