Volkswagen India has confirmed that it will expand the Tayron lineup with a new low-spec model, which is scheduled to be launched tomorrow, July 10, 2026. The upcoming model will be positioned below the existing Tayron R-Line and is expected to provide a more convenient entry point into the three-row SUV range. Although Volkswagen has yet to announce the official name of the model, the teaser video has revealed some design and equipment details. The Tayron R-Line is currently priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming version is likely to be priced around Rs 42-43 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the Tayron will continue to compete with SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.
In terms of design, the new Talon retains the LED lighting signature common on the R-Line. It features projector LED headlights connected via a light bar, with a glowing Volkswagen logo in the center. Although the front bumper and grille haven’t been fully revealed yet, they’re not expected to be more aggressive in design than the R-Line. Another notable change is the new five-spoke alloy wheel design, which may be smaller than the 19-inch wheels offered on the flagship model. The teaser also shows off gloss black wheel arch cladding, roof rails, connected LED taillights with illuminated Volkswagen badge, and a redesigned rear bumper. Turning to the interior, the interior layout largely mirrors the R-Line, but with some visual changes. The teaser shows dual-tone seat upholstery, replacing the all-black interior theme of the high-spec model. The SUV continues to feature a standalone touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital dashboard, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, metal pedals, a panoramic sunroof and three rows of seats. However, VW is expected to omit some premium features on the R-Line to help differentiate the two models.Mechanically, no changes are expected. The new Tayron variant is likely to use the same 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, producing 204 hp (approximately 201 hp) and 320 Nm of torque. The engine will continue to be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s AWD system.
