Yamaha Motor India today finally launched the new Yamaha Aerox E electric scooter in the Indian market, priced at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom). Interested customers can pre-order the e-scooters online or by visiting their nearest dealer; deliveries are expected to begin soon. The Aerox E is the second electric scooter launched by the brand in India after the EC-06. Talking about the powertrain first, the Aerox electric is powered by a 9.5kW motor and two removable 1.5kWh battery packs. Together they deliver 48Nm of torque, and Yamaha says the unit uses high-energy batteries designed to maximize performance and efficiency. The electric scooter is said to have a range of 106 kilometers on a single charge and weighs 139 kilograms, which is about 13 kilograms heavier than the ICE Aerox 155. The Aerox-E comes with multiple riding modes – Eco, Standard and Power – as well as a special Boost mode to quickly boost performance and make overtaking with ease. Braking hardware includes front and rear discs with ABS to ensure reliable braking force.
The scooter features telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. It is equipped with 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends, and front and rear disc brakes provide braking action with the support of single-channel ABS. The TFT dashboard with smartphone connectivity supports route guidance, weather information, and call and text message alerts.In terms of design, the Aerox-E clearly inherits the sporty DNA of its petrol counterpart. The aggressive dual-LED headlights and stylish LED taillight setup remain familiar, maintaining a sharp, dynamic appearance. What’s new, however, is the addition of a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, replacing the traditional LCD on the ICE version. Yamaha says it has also tweaked the ergonomics to make the electric version more engaging to ride. The electric version also gets some subtle changes, including blue accents all around and less under-seat storage space due to battery placement and revised styling.
