In an interview with India Today, the acclaimed director, who is also known for works like “Kafir”, “Tribhuhanga” and “Maharaj”, shared some insights about his upcoming project “Ikka”. He shared in the interview that one of the easiest parts of the film was assembling the cast. Besides Khanna and Del, the film also stars Dia Mirza and Thilotama Shom as well as.He shares, “Actually, the casting was the easy part. Whoever I approached for the film, they said yes right from the start. To say it was difficult would be a lie. That’s the power of the script. The script was so good. Fortunately, they had seen Maharaj. They had seen my work before. They knew me because of my father, my grandfather and my work. So there was already trust in the script.He further added that one of the most important things he takes into consideration on set is that there should be some form of mutual respect between everyone. He added, “One thing that no one is prepared for is that every actor has his own personality and his own life. It’s not just Sunny Deol or Akshaye Khanna. It’s everyone who walks on the set.”

He also added that he enjoyed working with veteran actors and nothing needed to be changed during filming. He mentioned, “There are no other shortcomings. I will only work with actors of that generation. I work with RaniKajol and Kareena – they are the best partners. “He also revealed that many old actors now avoid working with many people at the same time and are able to integrate well into the movie. He added, “They sit with you, connect with you, discuss scenes and talk about life,” he said. They can meet your needs in just one or two shots. You don’t spend hours shooting. They are professionals through and through because they have been doing this longer than you think.“As for how he keeps things moving smoothly, the director revealed that he used to edit scenes a lot. He revealed in the interview that after all the shots required for the day are shot, the director will edit them for everyone present to see. He also concluded: “What happened is they trusted me. There were no fireworks. They did exactly what I asked because they knew where I was going to shoot the movie.““Yika” is ready to be released on July 10, 2026.
