Kunal Kem Talks candidly about the unpredictability of acting, acknowledging that long periods without work and creative compromise are realities that most actors must face. The actor, who won acclaim for his directorial debut “Madgaon Express” and recently hosted Prime Video’s reality show “The League,” reflects on the constant struggle to balance artistic achievement with professional survival.Kunal said actors are often forced to choose between waiting for meaningful roles and accepting projects to stay active.“Sometimes you’re challenged to think, ‘I don’t really feel creative satisfaction or satisfaction doing this part of my work.'” But at the end of the day, I don’t work long hours, so I do it because at the end of the day, I’m trying to do what I need to do. I think that’s something most actors struggle with, especially when you’re not doing enough work or not having enough work. There’s often a struggle between what you really want to do and the opportunities in front of you,” Kunal told News18 in an interview. The actor expanded on the dilemma, explaining that every performer ultimately has to decide whether to wait for the perfect opportunity or make the most of whatever comes their way.“Do you just do nothing and wait until you get what you want? Or do you say, ‘Okay, let me make the most of what I have, even if it’s not 100 percent creative for me? ‘ For me, I’ve always been someone who really needs to connect with the work and enjoy it, because the only reason I became an actor, and now I do other things as well, is that acting brings me joy and makes me happy.” So, yeah, I think that’s the only bit that was challenging for me, and I know for a fact it’s the same for a lot of other actors as well. “When asked if he ever goes through a phase when he is not working, Kunal said such ups and downs are a recurring part of an actor’s life and can come back at any stage of his career.“No, it happens all the time. I mean, now I’m busier. But there was a time in my life where I spent almost two years working. And then a movie doesn’t work, and sometimes I’m home for six months, eight months, even a year. This stage may come back. “Kunal also revealed that despite repeated advice from industry insiders, he never believed in relying heavily on public relations or connections to advance his career. Instead, he prefers to stay true to his instincts.“It just didn’t work for me. The advice is you have to do a lot of PR and really have a PR machine behind it, which is really important.” Or even showing up somewhere, joining the right circles, entertaining people, or giving gifts. I don’t think this is bad advice. It doesn’t matter to me because it was never true. I’m a gut person and I do what I think is right. “The actor emphasized that skill is ultimately more important than popularity, saying he has been focused on improving his craft rather than chasing popularity.“Honestly, I believe in my craft more than anything else. Because if you’re a craftsman, someone needs you, just like a carpenter, right? If I need a good table made, I’m going to find a good carpenter. I’m not going to find the most popular carpenter.”
