Mumbai: Application of Artificial Intelligence in Content Creation Process of Study Materials for Master’s Program in Psychology university of mumbaiThe Center for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) has drawn criticism and ridicule from students on social media. However, the university claims this level of use is less than 10% and is “explicitly mentioned by content developers in research materials”. However, it has set up a committee to verify and review the content.A student shared the Social Issues (Skills and Interventions) study material for the fourth semester of the MSc in Psychology with a caption claiming that “MU is now using ChatGPT to generate content for CDOE Psychology students”, explaining why students are unemployed. The research material mentions that “the content was developed using artificial intelligence-based technology under the academic supervision of H Naik”.However, MU claimed in a statement, “It has been clarified that the use of these AI tools is limited to purposes such as grammatical correction, language refinement, improving coherence and readability of content and providing editorial assistance. The extent of such use is said to be less than 10 per cent as per prevailing acceptable norms and guidelines, including those issued by the UGC for research proposals,” the MU statement clarified. It also clarifies that the materials prepared for this program are in the form of self-study guides and are not considered books. However, in order to conduct a thorough verification and objective review of all aspects of the matter, CDOE established a committee. The Commission is currently conducting the necessary investigations and taking further action accordingly.
