After more than three years of delay, Diljit Dosanjh‘Satluj’ has finally hit the OTT streaming platform. Following the film’s release, the famous singer and actor became emotional, reflecting on the obstacles they faced in getting the film approved and released. “Satluj” was originally titled “Punjab ’95” and tells the story of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
Diljit Dosanje Talking about the release of ‘Satluj’
The actor-singer took to his Instagram account to talk about the release of ‘Satluj’ and paid tribute to activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Sharing a clip from the film itself, he wrote a touching caption, sharing, “After 4 years of struggle, SATLUJ #Panjab95 is finally released on @zee5 Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra Ji Nu Lakh Lakh Parnaam.”He further wrote, “Mai Aksar Team Nu Pushda Rehnda C Ke Eh Movie Kadey v Ni Augi? Asi Apni Kahani Nhi Das Sakde? Khalra Saab Di Avaaz Nu 1995 ch v Dabaa Dita Geya.. Te Aj V Ona Di Avaaz Nuabaa Rade Ranna Nabaa Rahh Samna Always? Where we stand, where we stand, we will definitely be grateful for the film.”In another interview, the actor shared that he was almost ready to quit the film if the cut was released to the public. Dosanjh actively hosts live broadcasts on his account and regularly communicates and connects with fans. In one of his recent live interviews, he stated that the film has yet to be edited and that if any major scenes were cut, he was prepared to exit the film and stop promoting it. Director Honey Trehan previously confirmed this, writing on Instagram: “No edits were made to the film, and no compromises were made to its original form.“

The story of “Satluj” is based on the real life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Apart from Dosanjh in the lead role, the film also stars Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky, Jagjeet Sandhu and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan. The show tells the story of how Jaswant Singh Khalra became involved in investigating the plight of some 25,000 people who were marked missing during the insurgency period in Punjab.
