New Delhi: England on Friday announced its 16-player squad for the three-match ODI series against India later this month, with uncapped all-rounder James Coles and fast bowler Josh Tonge being called up for the first time.India and England are currently engaged in a five-match T20I series before three ODIs in Birmingham, Cardiff and Lord’s on July 14, 16 and 19 respectively.
James Coles and Josh Tongue receive first ODI call-ups
The biggest talking point in the England squad is the addition of Coles and Tongues, who are yet to make their ODI debuts.The selectors also include tailors Gus Atkinson and Saqib Mahmood as England prepare to face a strong Indian side.
Jofra Archer return
Fast bowler Jofra Archer has also been named in the squad and will return to ODI cricket for the first time since November 2025.His return will improve England’s attacking tempo ahead of the three-match series.
India will field a strong lineup
India is expected to field a nearly full squad for the ODI series.former captain Rohit Sharma and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will feature while Virat KohliParticipation will depend on his health.
