Talking about the difference between then and now, Amitabh expressed his admiration for the dedication shown by modern actors. He admitted that actors now put in the effort to understand their characters before filming begins.He wrote: “…preparation was a word or explanation unknown to my generation and those that followed…Now ‘it’ is a common word, one prepares for the work to be done…To me it was an unknown entity…I now see the labor and pain that a creative artist puts into getting into character, look and style and thorough character analysis…It is an act that is most effective and thoughtful and I need to work on those efforts.”.The actor added that he has great respect for the dedication shown by today’s performers. He believes the process is much more detailed than it was in his generation.

Amitabh also recalled how difficult it was to switch between completely different characters within a few hours. According to him, actors of that era often shot as many as 10 to 15 films at the same time, making careful preparation almost impossible.He further wrote, “Well, that’s impressive… but in the good old days we were shooting 10 to 15 movies simultaneously – many two or three on the same day, and it was impossible to prepare for one and then cancel another on the same day…”Most of the time when you arrive at a soundstage or filming location, it’s the director or a famous assistant who explains the scene…A lot of people ask you how you switch from one role to another in one day for different movies…(sic)”
The fear of losing his job kept him going
Amitabh also explained why he was willing to accept this grueling routine. He admits that uncertainty about the future motivates him to continue to accept every opportunity.Here’s what he said (English version): “If I hadn’t taken all these jobs, I was always worried about whether I would get the opportunity in the future.
