The film caused controversy in China before its release. After the trailer was released online, some Weibo users accused the film of distorting its depiction of the conflict in the Galwan Valley. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs spoke about the matter in January, saying that issues related to film production in India are handled by “relevant authorities” and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “does not play any role” in such matters.
Salman Khan releases Maatrubhumi trailer on his birthday
The makers unveiled the trailer of the film on December 27, 2025, coinciding with Salman Khan’s 60th birthday. Salman plays Colonel Santosh Babu, the commander of the 16th Regiment in Bihar, who leads the Indian army in the conflict while enforcing the disengagement agreement at the border.
