India return to Sri Lanka for first Test tour since Virat Kohli's 3-0 sweep; check full schedule

New Delhi: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Thursday announced the schedule for India’s two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, both of which will be played in August as part of the 2025-27 cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.The first Test will be held from August 15 to 19 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. The second Test will be held from August 23 to 27 at the Singhalese Sports Club in Colombo.The series will be India’s first Test tour in Sri Lanka since 2017. In that tour, the Indian team consisted of Virat Kohliwinning the three-game series 3-0.The upcoming two-Test series will also be India’s first assignment in Sri Lanka in the current World Test Championship cycle. Both teams will be hoping to gain valuable points in the 2025-27 WTC standings to start their seasons.India has reached the final twice but has never won the WTO title and is currently ranked fifth, with Sri Lanka sixth.India will also travel to New Zealand this year for a two-Test series in November-December.India started the Shubman Gill captaincy era with a 2-2 draw against England in the home series against West Indies.However, the strong hosts were whitewashed by South Africa at home last year, raising serious questions about the batsmen’s ability to spin.Sri Lanka’s spinners will pose another tough challenge to the Indian batsmen in their own backyard.
