England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler achieved a major personal milestone by completing his 100th dismissal in T20 internationals despite heavy rain washing out the first T20I against India. In the match against India, Buttler reached the landmark by knocking Harshit Rana off the bowling of Adil Rashid at lightning speed. The former England captain was quick to collect Rashid’s goal after Rana rushed down the pitch looking for a thumping strike. The Indian batsman was beaten in the overs and failed to counterattack in time, buttler quickly bowled the ball out for his 100th T20I behind the stumps. With this feat, Buttler became the second wicketkeeper in T20I history and the first England wicketkeeper to complete 100 dismissals, joining South Africa’s Quinton de Kock who leads the way with 117 dismissals.

game abandoned

India’s first T20I against England at Chester-le-Street ended in a futile outcome as incessant rain prevented England from starting their chase of the 190-run target. Opting to bat, India recovered from 6/2 thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s 59 runs off 24 balls and 68 runs off 47 runs from captain Shreyas Iyer, who also crossed the milestone of 5,000 international runs. Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 42 off 21 provided the final spark for India as they posted 189/7, while Saqib Mahmood was England’s star player with figures of 3/33. However, England were forced to abandon the match without bowling due to heavy rain after the innings break.
