DU announces 1,370 seats for ECA UG admissions: Here’s how to apply

Delhi University has announced 1,370 undergraduate seats under the Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota for the 2026-27 semester, even as registration for the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) is already underway.Admissions will be divided into 14 categories as per the university’s ECA seat matrix. The theater is one of the largest in terms of seating capacity with 123 seats, followed by Indian Classical Dance with 125 seats and Indian Vocal with 109 seats.The university has also allotted 72 seats for Indian Folk Dance, 71 seats for Hindi Debate, 69 seats for English Debate, 65 seats for Drawing and Painting, 63 seats for Western Dance, 56 seats for National Cadet Corps (NCC) girls, 54 seats for Western Vocals, and 53 seats for National Service Scheme (NSS).Other categories include Photography 44 seats, Yoga 42 seats, Indian Instrumental Music (Tabla) 37 seats, Choreography 35 seats, English Creative Writing 33 and Hindi Creative Writing 30. There are 28 seats for film production, 26 seats for organ, 25 seats for quizzes and 24 seats for drums.Some specialized ECA subjects have fewer seats. There are 13 seats for guitar (lead), 13 seats for bass guitar, 10 seats for sculpture, 8 seats for animation, 5 seats for Indian violin, 2 seats for sarod and 1 seat for western flute.The seat matrix includes participation from all colleges across the university. Colleges such as Kirori Mal College, Hindu College, Hansraj College, Miranda House, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Sri Venkateswara College, Gargi College, Ramjas College, Shivaji College and Zakir Husain Delhi College offer ECA seats in various subjects.The university has opened registration for undergraduate admissions through the CSAS-UG portal.According to the university, candidates applying for admission under the sports quota must have appeared for CUET (UG)-2026.“For admission to ECA and sports supernumerary seats, the weightage of CUET(UG)-2026 results will be 25% and the weightage of certificate/test/performance will be 75%,” the university said in its undergraduate information bulletin.

How to apply for DU UG admission under ECA quota

Candidates who want to apply for ECA quota can follow the steps below:

  • Register for Undergraduate Admissions via CSAS-UG 2026 Portal.
  • Complete the application form and select the ECA quota option.
  • Select the ECA category to which you would like to apply.
  • Upload the required certificates and documents (if applicable).
  • Complete the application process and submit the form before the deadline.
  • If required by the university, attend ECA tryouts or performances.
