Hyundai Motor India has been continuously testing the upcoming Hyundai Bayon SUV. This time, the upcoming SUV was unveiled alongside the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, giving us an idea of its proportions. The Bayon looks significantly more compact than the 4.3-meter-long Victoris. Visual comparisons also reveal a shorter wheelbase, while its alloy wheels appear to be smaller in diameter than those fitted to the Victoris.Hyundai is gearing up to launch two new SUVs for the Indian market. Codenamed BC4, at this stage, Hyundai has not officially confirmed the positioning of the upcoming Bayon-based SUV. While some reports say it will be a sub-four-metre product, targeting rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Taisor and Nissan Magnite, other reports suggest it could be over four meters in length, positioning it between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s SUV portfolio. The exact segment and positioning of this SUV will remain unclear until Hyundai announces official specifications.
In terms of design, the Bayon’s front end will feature a split headlight layout similar to the current Venue, with slim LED daytime running lights located above the main headlight unit. Previous overseas sightings have also spotted black bumper cladding, front parking sensors and radar modules, indicating the availability of advanced driver assistance systems.The side profile carries multiple styling cues from the international-spec Bayon. The window lines, roof profile and overall proportions are largely similar to the global model, while the alloy wheels have a completely new design. Although the wheel size has not yet been determined, Bayon sold overseas will be available with up to 16-inch wheels.At the rear of the car, the SUV continues the separated lighting arrangement. The lower part is expected to house the main taillight unit, while the upper part houses the indicators and reverse lights. The test vehicle also featured roof rails, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.The interior of the standard model has not yet been photographed. However, the N Line version seen overseas shows an all-black cabin theme with contrasting details and adjustable headrests. The production model is expected to feature a similar layout but with a different color scheme. Although Hyundai is yet to reveal the feature list, the SUV is likely to come with a touch-screen infotainment system, digital dashboard, connected car technology, automatic climate control, wireless charging and multiple safety features. Later versions can also provide ADAS functionality.Powertrain details also remain unknown; the SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine with a factory-installed two-cylinder CNG option.
