The Global Chess League (GCL) Season 4 player draft attracted a lot of attention on Monday, with Indian grandmaster Nihal Sarin emerging as one of the favorites. American Gambits signed the 22-year-old after fierce competition and assembled a young squad that also includes Daniil Dubov, Sara Khadem, Bibisara Assaubayeva and Marc’Andria Maurizzi.Defending champions Alpine APL Pipers retain Norwegian superstar Magnus Carlson Women’s Chess World Cup champion Divya Deshmukh, Indian veterans Koneru Humpy, Vidit Gujrathi and reigning World Rapid Chess champion Volodar Murzin also joined in to consolidate their titles.Indian chess legend makes one of biggest moves in draft Viswanathan Anand For the first time in the history of the Global Chess League, the team changes, with Arjun Erigaisi joining the PBG Alaska Knights.
